FAQ

Thinner gauges (1.15–1.20 mm) bite the ball for spin and feel, but break faster. Thicker gauges (1.25 mm+) last longer and offer a firmer response. Pick a gauge that balances budget with desired touch.

A good rule is “play frequency per week = restrings per year.” If you’re on court twice weekly, plan to restring every six months, or sooner if tension loss or fraying appears.

Multifilaments bundle polyester or nylon fibres for elastic power and arm comfort, ideal for most players. Monofilaments are single-strand polyesters that deliver durability and a crisp, low-power feel favoured by heavy-hitters.

Most squash frames thrive between 24 and 29 lbs (10.5–13 kg). Lower tension enlarges the sweet spot and power; higher tension sharpens control. Start at the midpoint and adjust ±2 lbs per restring.

Notching at main-cross intersections, excessive movement after shots, or a dull thud on impact indicate tired strings. Fresh strings restore lively response and shot accuracy.
